Snap Shots (Keith's Memories 2)

A bright red cardinal stopping at a snow covered birdfeeder nestled in the evergreens outside the TV room.
Being outside in front of the house, snow covered yews hide strings of large, primary-colored light bulbs. As the sun sets, the lights glow and sparkle under their brittle frosted cover – not so much bulbs of light, but spots of friendly color.
Okay, that last one was too poetic. I gotta put down the wine and step away from the key board.

You had snow? We did not have only a skiff so far. Beautiful picture!!
No snow Rita. If you read the post below it, this is a part of a series of memories from Christmas time past - mainly while we were at the farm.
For the 3rd time I am gong to write a "memory" from the Aunt Ruth home. I do think that for all the years they lived there they rented the house. I have my round table because I fell in love with the concept that NO ONE sat at the head of the table as there was none. Now that I am older, I realize that King Arthur was the first with that concept----Hmmmm. I think that the buckwheat had to be made from a starter dough. I think that she had if "working" in a little storage room right off the kitchen to the rear and to the left as you entered the kitchen. I, too like Buckwheat pancakes and have a sack (like a little sack of regular flour) of it in my refrig. Dan does not care for it, so will wait for a day that he wants something else, then I will make it for me.
You are right about the rent and the multi day process for the dough.
On the recomendation of my grocer, Joan, I got a mix that is very good. I was surprised at the quality.
Thanks for the comments, its been kinda lonely here. I really want this to be a cross between bulletin board and kitchen table for the family, but I have been wondering if my efforts have been worth it.
