Considering the Current Arab Israeli Warfare

Despite our great advances in art, technology and the sciences, what emotionally primitive creatures we humans are. A genetically encoded blood-lust seems to always simmer just below the surface. The hopeful news is, as one of these painful spasms play out, the “better angels of our nature” often make an appearance.

Maybe when this bloody episode calms, a critical mass of sober fear will emerge. Sober fear in both the political elites and in enough of the general population which will motivate them to understand just how close they are to experiencing a much wider regional war where so many would die and several governments would fall; and therefore, will motivate them to be more creative and flexible in finding a way to focus on their few common interests.

Or maybe not.
